Diabetic neuropathy

I have had diabetic neuropathy in both feet and legs for a few years now. Mine was caused by mis-diagnosis of diabetes type years ago and subsequent treatment :-( If it helps at all, my symptoms are loss of feeling in my feet, not feeling hot or cold but plenty of pain
due to nerve damage. My legs have a constant feeling of pins and needles which feel like they are burning all the time. Anything touching my legs is extremely painful. There are some different symptoms of neuropathy but these are the ones I managed to get saddled with. I walk using 2 elbow crutches and sometimes I have to use a wheelchair.
I also cannot drive due to the loss of feeling in my feet. The DVLA were very quick taking my driving licence off me but I have been told I can get a car adapted so I don’t need to use my feet at all. I don’t feel very confident driving like this so I rely on taxi’s now.

This might be a stupid question but can that happen in the hands as well?Reason I ask is because half of my left hand has felt that way for awhile

Emm.. No that isn’t a stupid question and yes it can also affect your hands as well. I only posted about legs and feet as they are the only extremeties that I have problems with.
I am being treated with some very strong painkillers from my doctor who is very good. If it affects your hand to the extent you find it hard to carry out normal daily living then you really should see your doctor about some painkillers. I am on Tramadol as they are morphine based painkillers but then they have alot of work to do! I also have arthritis.
