difference in test strips

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Any body have any input on the difference in test strips? I had been using a
walmart brand relion ultima and a friend gave me an ultra one touch with
strips. I used that for months. When those ran out I went back to my relion
meter and my BS started going from the 80’s in the morning to upper 90’s and
over 100. I broke down and bought another packet of ultra one touch strips
and the walmart meter always reads 10 - 20 points higher!

Any one else have this experience?

Save your right to take supplements–deadline 5/29; call Congress al

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Howdy, my friends,

The FDA is about to promulgate* a rule whereby all natural supplements
and substances, including water in some cases, will become regulated
drugs which you will be able to obtain only by prescription from an
allopathic doctor
(an M. D.) Your right to treat yourself, take what you want when you
want, to control your own body in this way will be violated.

All individual choice and natural treatment options will be gone if
this rule goes into effect. The supplement industry that millions
depend on for natural health options will go out of business almost
overnight.
The supplements available then will only be ones made by
prarmaceutical companies, and will likely be of extremely poor quality.

Re: Digest Number 1601

Diabetes Mellitus CureI agree. I haven’t participated in this group much. I
came here for natural alternatives. I have pretty much reversed my Type II with
these. Hearing someone had perfect scores by medication is nice if they have
been struggling but not something I want to hear every week.

Also a note on his severe lows. I cam across some articles the other days
suggesting BS lows (below 70) in the mornings on a regular basis was an
indicator of cardiac problems down the road. Seems severe lows cause problems
the same as high. It’s all about balance I think

Re: another perfect week-Beware of perfection

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

If I want daily box scores, I’ll go read the sports page.
My interest and participation in this forum diminishes when I have to
sift through someone’s repititious ego trip to get to substance.
It would serve for moderator to put the breaks on this, once and for
all.

pumps

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Our doctor wants my daughter to look at pumps. Now that she has had
to do shots before breakfast, lunch, and dinner she has decided she
might like the idea. However, they said the meds are causing her
levels to be high, so would it be better to wait to see if she can go
back to one shot a day? It could be the meds, she is also sick, or
her honeymoon stage is ending — or combo, right? She liked the
omnipod — wwww.omnipod.com, but we can’t get it in our area yet.
She liked how it worked by remote. Any suggestions?

high levels

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Hello again! We have instructions to call the doctor if levels are
above 300 with keytones. However, are there guidlines about how high
levels are with neg. keytones? We spent Thursday and Friday in the
ER - to make a long story short, my daughter had hives from head to
toe. She also had swollen and sore joints. It was determined that
she had an acute allergic reaction. We have not changed anything
except Insulin from Lantus to Novalog & Levimir. She is not taking
steroids anymore (for the reaction) and her levels are now 375. They
do not believe the insulin has caused this. They wanted us to stop
all supplements and meds except for her insulin. She was sent home
again today because hives started popping up — nothing like Fri.
though. She is type I.

Enzymes : Re: another perfect week of blood sugars!

Friday, June 15th, 2007

I’m a type 1 for 21 years. I have seen 30’s on several different meters
over the years. You will not always break into a sweat or these types of
reactions. I have seen breaking into a sweat at 80 blood sugar.(rarely)
Robert’s numbers are attainable. The first 10 years of my diabetes I was
low like him. I did see 200’s on occasion, 300’s as well, a rare 400, and
even a couple 500’s over 21 years. Obviously these numbers are extremes,
but come from eating things which are out of the ballpark, or neglecting to
take insulin on a rare occasion. Also for testing post eating rather than
always prior only twice per day.

What happened to the gist of this list: Curing Diabetes?

If you want a conventional list on how to manage diabetes using novolog and
lantus, there are plenty of places for this. This site was meant to be for
people interested in curing their own diabetes using the gamut of approaches
