Diabetes breakthrough
Toronto scientists cure disease in mice

Tom Blackwell, National Post
Published: Friday, December 15, 2006
In a discovery that has stunned even those behind it, scientists at a
Toronto hospital say they have proof the body’s nervous system helps
trigger diabetes, opening the door to a potential near-cure of the
disease that affects millions of Canadians.
Diabetic mice became healthy virtually overnight after researchers

Vitamin A and high levels sugar

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Hi Everybody, I am new here, my 13 year old is autistic and has type 2
diabetes. Last year I was able to bring his A1c to 5. no meds and
blood sugar on normal levels at that point his endo told us that he no
longer had diabetes. Well, a few months after that he levels of
testosterone rose to the thousands(were suppose to be 20 to 30 at
eleven) and he diabetes returned, he was put on Lupron to lower
testosterone.I have tried to get him back on the protocol that helped
lower his blood sugars, but we been having problems with anything
containing Vitamin A. Omega 3 was I believe what relly helped him a
year ago,but everytime takes it his blood sugar raises so much,
between 200 and 300, then it goes down after eliminating it, it can
take a couple of days. I have read that vit A helps lower blood sugar
levels ,but not that raises them. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

Mariah

check out the new omega-3 supplement

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

This will be pertinent to the most recent discussions that
mentioned inflammatory cytokines — rare omega-3 EFAs that are
apparently 100 times as effective as EPA and DHA at reducing
inflammation

Irene: I’d appreciate a synopsis since you know some of this
work. It looks good to me, but this supplement will not replace
cod-liver oil but will be a useful additive.

I think I might start to carry Lyprinol on my website.

Bitter Melon extract

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

I eat bitter melon every day to help with my type II diabetes. When it
goes out of season I may have trouble finding it. Will bitter meoln
extract (in pill form) suffice? Is it as effective as the whole fruit?

Intro and question

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Hi all,

I just joined recently. I know Alobar from the coconut loop (howdy!)

I was diagnosed with Type II under 3 years ago. To make a long story
short since March - I have lost 62 pounds, brought my a1c’s from 6.5
to 5.6 (probably lower now) and am doing well. Fasting blood sugars
mid 70’s to low 90’s.

I was tested for protein in the urine back in March. Showed a small
amount (I was on my cycle at the time and showing signs of infection
I was told later). Went to a naturopath, did the 24 hour creatine
test,BUN test and 3 weeks later urine test again. All came out
normal.

Possible Diabetes Cures Ready For (or In) Human Trials

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

This is my list of possible cures for type-1 diabetes that are either
in human trials or almost ready for human trials. I will try to put in
every trial that I learn of, that meets the following criteria:
1. It is a cure for type-1 diabetes, not a treatment for a symtom. (A
cure requires blood sugar control without testing and with doctor’s
visits 4 times a year, or less. Obviously, this is my personal
definition of a cure; yours may differ. Any cure must result in an
average lifespan close to normal.)
2. It is either in human trials now, or has been in the past, or is
expected to be within the next two years.
3. Does not require a lifetime of immunsuppressive drugs, so it is not
trading one treatment for another. (but a couple of repeated
operations, or a short course of drugs is OK)
4. It is not specific to the "honeymoon" phase of the disease.

Liver steatosis severity correlates with degree of dyslipidemia

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Part of my job is to reverse metabolic syndrome, improving
dyslipidemia and presumably, fatty liver. There’s a lot of
published work along those lines that someone else can dig up - I
don’t have time this week.

Has anyone heard or tried Diabeticine which is now Diamaxol?

any good?

Re: curing diabetes

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

I think it’s interesting how common it is for diabetics to assert
that there is no cure for diabetes, claiming no responsibility
because it’s genetic as in the comment below, or claiming no
responsibility because everyone has it and will always have it,
and aguing some people are only in remission.

Some people simply refuse to take responsibility for inducing
their own disease and metabolic syndrome with an unnaturally high-
carb diet. These people resist going "low-carb" as they call it,
resisting also the information that a correct diet isn’t low-carb
at all but "adequate carb", even without sugar, corn, potatoes,
bread, pasta, sweet potatoes, yams and other starchy foods.

Simply put, we have failed to evolve a mechanism that allows us
to eat all these carbs without inducing disease, and these

Re: gastric bypass and diabetes - was Re: Type 2 - MGB Surger…

Friday, April 6th, 2007

ok, I am willing to listen. I’d like to know if what you say is true, but I
want to hear it from the doctor. What is the url to your website, and kindly
state your name that he knows you by -send it to me privately to my email
address instead of on the list if you wish - so that I can check out what you
say
as to Dr. Rutledge being a friend of yours.
The problem with what you write about Type 2 diabetes, and the surgery in
general, is that it is in direct contradiction to what he writes about the MGB
in
the manual and talks about in the radio interviews he has given.
