<description>This treatment regimen goes back to the time before insulin. At that
time, type 1 diabetics HAD NO CHOICE but to make extreme dietary
changes. The problems are 1)the extreme reduction of calories has the
effect of partially starving a person to death, and 2) the body
rapidly deteriorates due to the effects of not having insulin to keep
blood sugar levels stable.

While this CAN be done for type 1 diabetics, the quality of life
suffers dramatically.

For type 2 diabetics, a critical part of getting off insulin is to
improve health and fitness. This means grabbing your significant other
and going for walks or to the zoo or other activity that requires
walking to HAVE FUN. The next step is modifying your diet to get out
of poor eating habits. In accomplishing this, one recommendation is to
&lt;!--more--&gt;
shop at the grocery store by keeping to the outside aisles (the
butcher shop, produce aisles and breads -- but exclude the pastries).
If you need to enter the middle of the store, know what you need, go
in, grab it and get out. Treat the interior aisles as if the minotaur
is inside.

Good Luck,

&#62; No, but I met 1 and heard of a few other Type I (juvenile) diabetics
who got
&#62; off insulin by maintaining a RAW foods diet; others by taking
digestive
&#62; enzymes (www.drwong.us/ArchivedTreatingDiabetes.htm) [on empty
stomach].

&#62; Cousens, M.D. &#34;got type 1s and 2s off insulin&#34;; www.treeoflife.nu
&#62; Gerson.org diet (mostly raw vegetables and fresh juices) reportedly
allows a
&#62; small portion of type 1 diabetics to get off insulin.
