Hair Loss
I may have asked this before on this list; if so, please excuse the repeat.
Do any women on here with Type 2 have noticeable thinning of your hair on the
top of your head only?

I’d expect the hair loss may be caused by free radical damage and
oxidative stress; hair loss on the legs and feet is similar but
there is a larger component of impaired circulation in that case.
The biggest oxidative stress reducer is an antioxidant program
including the glutathione precursos cold-process whey and selenium.

Thank you, Duncan. Interestingly, I was able to find some information on the
internet about it for the first time, after I sent that question to the list.
Iit seems that it is being found that there is a connection to high insulin
levels (uncontrolled diabetes), as well as people who shoot a lot of insulin,
and the top of the head only pattern hair loss of women. There are other
causes as well, such as prolonged stress and hormonal/menopause, but a definite
thread runs to the connection of high insulin in the body and top head hair
loss.
Dr. Mercola has some information on it; some of those he reads after believe
that many who think they have male or female pattern baldness actually have
undiagnosed diabetes.

Right Kady; I was referring to the fact that diabetics have up to
50 times the oxidative stress compared with normal controls.
This will lead to systemic impairment of growing cells including
hair follicles, and that’s why Selsun Blue and Head and Shouldes
with selenium can stop hair loss with their antioxidant potential
as precursors.
However, a systemic antioxidant program plus stopping metabolic
syndrome is the way to regeneration, including to hair.

What hair on the top?
Mine is gone bye-bye thanks to cortisol. I have about ten left, and they
get roll call every morning.
