Re: filling up Donna and deficiencies etc.

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

Donna, psyllium will fill you up and it also produces reliable bowel
constitution. You can add inulin, another indigestable soluble fiber
to that to correct bowel dysbiosis and improve nutrient absorption.

There’s also a pasta out that’s mostly indigestible fiber from konjac
root. That should help fill you up.

Cold-processed whey contains a molecule that gives the satisfaction
message to the brain so you can push away the plate sooner. It’s also
full of glutathione precursors, and glutathione is the main
antioxidant that is often depleted in diabetics, leading to all those
diabetic complications, which are mainly due to chronic oxidative
stress.

Re: Cure For Diabetes Bev/Crow

Bev, you don’t need more meds — have you heard of "polypharmacy"? I
ask because most of your difficulties can be resolved with foods and
antioxidants, while drugs relieve symptoms but compound the
underlying health issues.

COPD responds remarkably well to a good antioxidant program; that is,
vitamin C, E, A, selenium, cold-processed whey for the glutathione
precursors, and other antioxidants like grape seed extract (my
preference is Omegavin - very potent). Antioxidants work together,
and it’s a particularly good idea to use them when one is diabetic as
most of the diabetic complications one might experience also relate
to free radical damage, A.K.A. chronic oxidative stress.

Re: Does whey protein increase insulin sensitivity or production?

Friday, March 24th, 2006

As I was watching CNN tonight, I saw part of a message scrolled across the
bottom of the screen. It said something about taking whey with a high
carbohydrate meal increased insuling secretion. I did miss part of the
scrolling
message. Does anyone on this list know anything about this. Helene

Re: best carb foods for diabetics

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

<<What can I eat that would be
satisfying and filling and not be bad for my blood sugar?>>
I think the best and safest carb foods for diabetics are the following:

lightly-steamed or RAW VEGETABLES (eat skin if organic [org.])– green
beans (contain insulin), celery; avocado, artichoke, garlic, onion;
mushrooms (shiitake, maitake); LEAFY GREENS (non-iceburg lettuce, spinach,
parsley, watercress, dandelion, kale, seaweed/sea vegetables); steamed
cabbage, cruciferous vegetables & asparagus; SPROUTS
GREEN SALAD (w/olive oil, red-wine vinegar & lemon juice; no other
dressing)
fruits (high-fiber, low-sugar, low-glycemic)–berries (organic
strawberries, org. cherries [anthocyanins], blueberries, raspberries);
grapefruit, lemon, tomato, org. cucumber, plums, prunes, nonsweet apples,
pears, peaches

hair regrowth, metabolic syndrome and diabetes discussed by longevit

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

In rsponse to a question on hair regrowth, several of my clients
reported their hair started growing back in the right colour. They
were doing antioxidants, diet and exercise, and taking SomaLife gHP,
an amino acids blend that is specifically made to increase HGH
release from the pituitary gland. They were actually doing it to
improve their metabolic profile by reversing metabolic syndrome
(formerly called syndrome X).

Some people might want to hear how and why diabetes improves with
SomaLife gHP from several doctors who run longevity centers. These
doctors use SomaLife "exclusively" (their words) in their clinics to
increase HGH to youthful levels. As one can imagine, that tends to
bring all the hormonal, lipid, and metabolic readings into youthful
range and you start to regenerate all systems like you were in your
mid 20’s.

Re: Type 2 Women & Thinning Hair Spot

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

I’d like to ask the women on this list who have Type 2 if they have a
noticeable  thinning of hair in the area of the bangs or just behind the bangs
on the
top of the head …. ?

When I was in the endocrinologist’s office about a year ago, there were quite
a few women around my age and younger, all with the same area of thinning -
the hairline is not receded as in male pattern baldness, just a noticeable very
much thinner spot as I mentioned.  I believe untreated hypothryoidism, which
I also have, causes thinning of the hair all over, but I’m wondering if the
particular on top thinning is due to Type 2, sugar staying too high.

A friend of mine who is also Type 2 also has the thinning in that spot, but
she’s always said hers is due to menopause.  But after I saw all the women in
that office with the same thin spot, I wondered if maybe that was peculiar to

ignoring food and arsenic as causes

Monday, March 13th, 2006

Do you not think it’s a trap to think a pill or remedy to cure or
reduce diabetes is going to do more than a diet restriction and
lifestyle change?

This may not apply to you but it sems to me that I’ve seen a lot of
fat diabetics spend more creative effort getting around a program of
dietary restrictions and exercise than following it.

Once they face the facts that ANY sugar, ANY farmed or processed
starch product, or ANY ounces of polyunsaturated and unsaturated oil
is actually foreign to the body, and also that the body NEEDS to be
moving, they start to lose weight like it’s a miracle or something.
The first step is to acknowldge that we never evolved to handle such
a heavy dietary load of carbohydrate or processed oil; they produce
disease.
