arsenic in drinking water reported by 25 states

Data from 25 states that reported shows arsenic in drinking water

There exists quite a bit of information there on what the Code Blue
filter removes as well as a comparison to the leading filters. For
example, Brita pitcher filters only remove chlorine and lead, and not
even carcinogenic THMs or pesticides. For any who are interested I
did get further information in PDF files. Please put code blue water
in the subject line of a direct email. duncancrow(at)shaw.ca

Some people don’t realize just how toxic arsenic is; the table below
shows the lifetime risks of dying of cancer from arsenic in tap water
correlated to arsenic concentration in drinking water, based on the
National Academy of Sciences’ 1999 risk estimates. (assuming 2 liters
consumed/day). Note that even at very low concentrations, cancer risk
rises considerably. This is cancer alone out of dozens of ailments,

diabetes and autoimmunes included. Removal of even very low
concentrations of arsenic is why the Code Blue water filter is poised
to do well in the marketplace.

0.5 ppb 1 in 10,000 1 ppb 1 in 5,000 3 ppb 1 in 1,667 4 ppb 1 in
1,250 5 ppb 1 in 1,000 10 ppb 1 in 500 20 ppb 1 in 250 25 ppb 1 in
200 50 ppb 1 in 100

The Office of Health and Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) of the California
EPA calculated that a level for a one-in-a-million risk is 1.5 parts
per trillion - 3000 times less than the level proposed for January
2006 by the US EPA. It would be impossible to set a regulatory limit
this low and enforce it since no municipal water supply could meet
it.

Currently in the USA the standard is 50 PPB; in Canada it’s 25 PPB.
The World Health Organisation is pushing for a 1 PPB maximum.

You might be able to find the exact amount of arsenic in your own
water with judicious searching, and if your US state was one of the
25 that reported, this information county by county has been compiled
by the Natural Resources Defense Council into a worksheet. If your
state is in the following list at least we have the government data;
private wells are unfortunatly for us, private information.

Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Illinois Indiana Kentucky
Kansas Maine Michigan Minnesota Missouri Montana Nevada New Hampshire
New Jersey New Mexico North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma
Oregon Texas Utah

If anyone gets more data, I’d like the link please if you’d be so
kind as to drop me an email so I can flesh out some more
states/countries/regional districts.

regards,
