Accu-check monitor warning

Hello all,
I haven’t posted for a while because suddenly, after Christmas, my
blood sugar went high and stayed high and nothing I did would get it
down. It made no sense. Since I was diagnosed a year ago I had
wonderful results with a strict diet and exercise plus my infra red
bed that I developed. So now I was totally bummed, thinking nothing
was working. Some days I only ate eggs when my bg was above 250. I
went back down to 110 lbs, skin and bone and a hank of hair.
I suddenly had a brainwave yesterday and went back to the Active
meter that I had used for the first 10 months. I realized that I had
changed to the Advantage right around Xmas time because the strips
were on sale.
I tested on both meters - Advantage was 265, Active was 109.
I called the company and they kept repeating that the monitors could
not be compared. What kind of horsepoop is that? Which one is right?

They sent me some glucose solution to test both monitors and they
both fell within the correct range. So it was not a broken monitor.

The reason that I have some confidence in the Active being the
correct one is that my H1ac tests come back 5.4 and, besides that, I
feel so good. They asked me to send back the Advantage for testing,
offered me a free Active and a box of strips and I’m supposed to
forget it. I could have died on the treadmill, working my skinny buns
off to burn off sugar I didn’t have!

Has this happened to anyone else? If you have been really high for no
apparent reason maybe you’d better change monitors. Apparently it’s
all relative anyway. None of them can be compared to each other so
none of them are actually, truthfully, undeniably RIGHT! Remember
that next time you get worried about the numbers and let them ruin
your day.

hi pam, i have experienced the same thing with the advantage. i have a few
meters and trust my precision xtra the most. i will check the advantage
strips with this one. i was getting readings one hundred points over the
precision with the advantage, and call the company . they give me the same
    story.
i knew how i felt, but it is scary . i think it is the the strips, because
    this happened before. ellen
