I am afraid Duncan didn’t write the following, I did. I am also afraid it seems
to have been taken out of context. I was talking about alternative care
providers and their ilk. After consideration though, I think it STILL applies
to the drug companies.

Jewel, I believe you are allowing a bias cloud your thought here. The
Pharmacies are not flawed in producing bad untested products. They spend MANY
years researching their products before they are put on the market. Where they
go wrong is being self serving profit mongers, not selling ineffective products
with lies. The ethics suck but its their business and they have a monopoly.
They STILL have products based on truth.
I believe one of the problems the pharmacies image in our society has is
actually based in bad publicity. I see this all the time and it not only causes
but is the cause of the out of control litigation in our country…..which in
turn pumps up our drug prices. If the news media would present its reports
with a sense of perspective, people would view the pharmacies differently and
perhaps sue less.
I will use a real life example of what I am talking about. I have heard people
declare they will NEVER use Avandia because they have heard of the Lawsuit,
apparently 24 people have developed heart problems after mixing it with other
Diabetic drugs and died. Now one would think 24 people!! Thats a lot and I
will die if I take it!!… well thats 24 out of 3 million customers- the odds of
actually getting hurt by Avandia with mixing (yes everybody who takes it is on
something else) is .000008% chance. Your chance of winning the powerball are
better. Only an idiot would use these kind of statistics and stop taking curing
remedies but they do because they listen to the medias twisted stories.
People die from complications from everykind of drug, even antacids. The Media
turns it into something absurd, and suddenly the pharmaceutacals are bad and not
a valid source for addressing your health needs. Stop watching tabloid
television and break out your calculator and THEN pass judgement.
The solution to the drug issue isn’t painting the pharmaceuticals badly, its
breaking their monopolies, making their products prices lower by creating
competition.

A Grassroot Movement is like a lawn; there is a bigger picture we all like to
see…. but underneath there are many small roots. Each root has an influence
