		<description>Kady,

Cold-processed whey, a protein, is mildly alkalizing.

Potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc are alkalizing and the
potassium and magnesium are possibly low in your diet anyway.

Eat a lemon every day, the whole thing, not just the juice. Eat
above-ground vegetables in preference to below-ground. There are
charts online of alkaline foods.</description>

<description>Kady, don't forget that most vegetables are alkaline. As long as you are eating
80% alkaline foods to 20% acidic (vegetables to proteins) you can reverse the ph
balance in your body from acidic to alkaline. The comments about calcium are
correct, also, but all minerals are alkalizing, not just calcium. Most of our
farmland is depleted of vital minerals, so supplementing all minerals, including
trace minerals, is beneficial for this purpose.

A good book on this subject is &#34;Alakalize or Die&#34; by Dr. Ted Baroody of
Holographic Health. He also produces a line of alkalizing supplements,
including an excellent digestive enzyme called PanGest. I concur with the
comment about enzymes being a problem for most people with diabetes. Dr.
Baroody's supplement supports the digestive system from the salivary glands
through the stomach, pancreas and gallbladder function. It also contains
chromium to balance blood sugar.

&lt;!--more--&gt;
Another comment about digestive enzymes: if your body temperature is abnormal
(low or high) enzymes will not function. They need a 98.6 degree environment to
do their work. Most people I deal with have a low body temperature due to
thyroid insufficiency. They are told by their doctor that it is normal for
them, so it's OK. It may be normal for them but it is not correct, and leads to
many of their digestive problems. This is where Duncan's reference to
SomaLife's gHP product comes in. Feeding the body the proper nutrition so it
can correct itself is far superior to hormone supplementation, whether chemical
or natural.

Another excellent resource for information on alkalizing is &#34;Patient Heal
Thyself&#34; by Dr. Jordan Rubin. He produces a powerful green food called Perfect
Food that is very alkalizing. It also has been fermented, which makes it easily
digested as well as enhancing the nutrient content and benefit for the digestive
system.

Hope this helps.
Lynn

I've been reading a lot about the ph balance of our bodies. I keep
reading over and over that a body that is acid is the root cause of diseases
such
as diabetes and cancer. But, the foods that are the most acid - proteins, are
the ones we are told to eat the most of on a low carb diet, and the foods
that are the most alkaline - fruits - are of course high in natural sugar that
we
cannot eat except in very small amounts. So how do we get from acid to
alkaline .... anyone know?
