Forgive me if this is too radical an idea, but do you really need an
endo? If what you are doing is bringing your blood sugars down,
could you continue on your own and just get what tests you need to
see how you are doing through an intern or family doc? Even a
qualified naturopath (N.D.) will have access to lab tests…Perhaps a
combination of the above - General M.D. for prescription stuff, N.D.
for ideas, supplements, homeopathic remedies, etc….That’s what I do

and have done for about 30 years, now. I’m type 1, though. I think
maybe it’s easier to find a kind/humble family doc
than ’specialist’…. -My 2 cents! -Linda R

I personally concur with this. You don’t need an endo until your endocrine
system is the issue. A dead pancreas doesn’t qualifiy as an issue.

MY GP has been great, although a little set in the old school. He doesn’t
concur with much that I say, but he cooperates with what I want to do and is
willing to work together to find a solution we can both live with. The Endo I
would be using would immediately put me on insulin…. removing the Avandia I
believe is my Godsend, from the picture. You don’t need an endo to get insulin.

This same Endo treated my wife for polycystic ovaries. He put her on a med that
caused breakthrough bleeding so she was on her cycle for 15 months straight. He
wouldn’t offer any alternatives and when she finally just went off of it, it
made NO difference to her health EXCEPT she had lost so much iron from her
system they had to give her iron transfusions. He was a worthless Dr. This
"professional" may have had Dr. written on his name, but he was clueless.

You don’t need a specialist to address your problem unless you have a problem
that demands a specialist.
