		<description>Hi Pam...
Yes, I do agree that some people are less able to really comprehend what
they need, but I am guessing they must have someone who cares for them
and can do the leg work, if that is what they really want. And I believe
you are right in that just because the 'government' approves of the
snake oil person or that person has a degree, it still doesn't make them
less of a snake oil person.. probably they just have great lobbyists
like the pharmaceutical companies! Actually, when you consider the
truly horrendous medications those docs push down our throats at great
cost in to us in both money and health, you would have to say probably
your average medical doctor is probably one of the worst offenders of
snake-oil-ism there is!
We all need to take responsibility for ourselves, is what I believe.
Truly we can't depend on any outside source to have our best interests
at heart. Not even Dr. Welby or Dr. Kildare... I kinda think now that
&lt;!--more--&gt;
those shows were as much propaganda as anything, despite how adorable
Richard Chamberlain looked in those Dr. duds. = ) For sure, the
medical industry in all it's forms stands to lose billions if we all
just say.. &#34;well, thanks for your opinion, Doc, but I have been using
this herbal remedy and it is working much better than all your pills.&#34;
Even worse yet, we might even start asking &#34;Doc, if all your medicine
is supposed to make me better, why am I getting sicker and sicker, and
needing more of it??&#34; Oh how the powers that be hate an educated
public. Makes us ever so hard to control.
And like you, I pretty much have gotten to the point where I say what I
believe, what's worked for me, and if others want to disregard it, that
is fine. I have done my part. Whether or not they want to hear me is
about their life lessons, not mine. And if they choose to suffer and
die for no reason other than they are buying the biggest snake oil pitch
of all time, then that is their choice as you say. I have done my part
and for sure *I* am not gonna die from that garbage. = )

		<description>Hi Annie,
I absolutely agree with you - very well-written. What is remarkable
to me is how far behind on the latest thinking most credentialed
people are. My only reservation is that some people are not as able
to do research as we are - for reasons of IQ, illness, brain fog from
mercury etc, - just lack of computer skills and time. Those are the
people who need a little protection. But neither a degree or the
government can provide the protection they need.
I guess I finally have to trust that we all meet the people we need
to meet in order to learn what we need to learn. That may sound a
little wahwah but it has worked for me over the years.
I used to tell people with great enthusiasm everything that was
working for me and then I saw how few people wanted to hear it and I
shut up. Now I am tempted to speak up again and let whoever wants to
hear me listen. Their choice.
