Re: glutathione antioxidants / oils
Hi Candace;
The Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Diabetes Association put out a lot of
information that contradicted by the research. The Heart Foundation for example
is not a health organization but a political body, founded originally by
pharmaceutical interests. And because they are well-funded, we hear what they
spend money on to tell us. Of course they want to feed us heart cholesterol and
stroke pills, so they tell us to eat large amounts of oils that guarantee heart
disease and free radical diseases.
But we all have access to the same research. And the researchers who did that
work are telling us that the only way the Foundation can be putting out the
wrong message is by doing it deliberately. The researchers are telling us that
these organizations are killing millions of us with incorrect information.
Since we’ve started doing as we’re told and started eating canola, corn, and
soy, and other purable oils in the early 1950’s, the death rate from heart
disease and related disorders has skyrocketed. Conversely, populations that
don’t eat those oils don’t know of these diseases.
You don’t see actual oils research posted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation or
the Diabetes Association, because they don’t have any to back up their story.
Fact is, people and other mammals live longer on olive oil, butter, lard and
coconut oil. You have to get essential fatty acids, sure, but after you’ve done
that the pourable oils are not a good idea.

I have read where olive oil (cold pressed) is good for you as long as you do not
heat it. For cooking, it is recommended to use butter or lard.
Agree or disagree?

THIS IS TRUE. This is true if that is all they eat. And, to make it worse,
eating these oils may
affect the motility of the sperm. That simply means that the sperm can’t reach
the egg.
We eat olive oil and have for years.
Try to tell people not to eat soy products and they get angry at you.
And try telling that corn has little nutritive value!! Oh boy!!
Peace and love,

Extra Virgin olive oil is the least free radical producing of all the
oils that pour at room temperature.
If you’re getting extra virgin olive oil, there’s the rub. I wrote about
the olive oil scam for the local paper; I’ll put it up in a separate
thread.

Duncan, I read some old newsletters from Ray Peat and wondered if he is still
alive and reachable. His take on diabetes was especially interesting. I
learned so much from him regarding the oils you name below and advise all my
clients to use extra virgin olive oil, butter and coconut oil. (Can’t bring
myself to recommend lard because of the toxicity of the animal itself.) It’s
truly the correct way to get your fats.
If you have info on Ray Peat, please let us know.

Hi Lynn;
Glad you’re enjoying it.
Although Ray Peat is better known and certainly in the top twenty of oils
afficiandos, he got a lot of his material from international researcher
Mary Enig. In fact Enig corrects some of Peat’s speculations both online
and in her book "Know Your Fats", which is the best oils book on the
market and the one you should have.
I don’t know about Ray Peat’s availabilty but Mary Enig is out and about.
Because she is the one the others quote, I’d recommend her book over any
others, because it won’t contain any mistakes.
Mistakes? Heck yes! The well-known Udo Erasmus’ book has been described
by Enig as a tangled skein of fact and fiction, apt to do as much harm as
good. (just one example).

Duncan, thanks for this information on Mary Enig. I’ll check out her book. The
reason I am interested in speaking with Ray Peat is he considers that many
juvenile diabetics are diagnosed incorrectly and being put on insulin cements
their problem. Therefore, I wondered if he has any recommendations in that
instance, but have never found anyone who knows if he is still active.
