Oops! Should we split into two groups?

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

-Sorry about the dud!
Are there enough people who are unhappy with the quantity of
argumentative posts here, and who would want to regroup elsewhwere on
the net with some peace-keeping rules in place….? Like, 1) a
committment to a spirit of cooperation, 2) a requirement to express
debate in a respectful way, to ‘agree to disagree’ and drop it in the
case of unresolvable conflict, and 3) to settle democratically (by
membership vote?)any issues we can neither settle nor drop…?
Diabetes is so hard. I think we should be kind to each other.
Another question: would the type-1’s like to have their own list,
since the two diseases are so different in both cause and treatment?
Also, by demographics, type-1’s are greatly outnumbered by type-2’s,
a truth reflected in this list. I don’t know if other 1’s would

I AM THANKFUL…..

FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS IT’S HOT DOGS TONIGHT, BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH
ME, AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
FOR THE HUSBAND WHO IS ON THE SOFA BEING A COUCH POTATO, BECAUSE HE
IS HOME WITH ME AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE TEENAGER WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES BECAUSE THAT
MEANS SHE IS AT HOME, NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES THAT I PAY BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE BEEN
SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
ENOUGH TO EAT.

Fwd: Re: [diabetescured] Type I - a question; Dr. (??) Jim Bowen

Jewell, Why don’t you get off your soapbox and relax. Let Linda do what
she does best. . .help people. If you don’t like what she says, delete
her. That’s the beauty of the delete button. The same will go for
her. I, for one, am sick of the yada, yada, yada. There’s more to worry
about than who sells what. I will say, though, that I never saw Linda say
buy, buy, buy. She’s more than generous with all her information and only
wants to help others. That to me is a Godsend by anyone’s standards
today. Give it a rest.

For Michael and Jewell ! BYE, Y’all!

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

Dear Michael,

You are entitled to your opinion! This is a free country! I have NEVER
said I possess "the true source of all knowledge" - I am an intelligent
inquirer ON THE PATH. And yes, I HAVE helped thousands of people, it’s
what I best love doing. I have NEVER charged for my advice or counsel…so I
DO resent your allegation that I do so. MANY people on this list can attest
to the numerous letters of advice I have written to them trying to help.

I am a diabetic HELPING DIABETICS. I have (through my contacts in India)
worldwide rights to an exclusive product to benefit diabetics. You can all
learn MORE about it from the COMPANY’s website, www.gourdin.com. I am
proud of that affiliation. It also brings me literally dozens of people
each week whom I can help!

May I ask why is it called Mexico Travel Alert? I think that is why they
think you are selling something … the title doesn’t seem to connect with
diabetes. And I never did find a download or attachment for it on my email.

Type I - a question; Dr. (??) Jim Bowen

Saturday, August 21st, 2004

I don’t know who this Dr. Jim Bowen is, but his Mexico travel alert sure
seems a TAD out of place here - and folks accused ME of selling on this
list! If he’s an MD, his emails sure seem unprofessional. But I do
exercise my right to hit the delete key!

Many thanks. I think I’m really on to something here, and need to see just
how high a percentage of folks it is true for.

Liver cleansing?

Saturday, August 21st, 2004

I agree with the person who stated milk thistle works for the liver. I’ve seen
it do wonders with my clients. I’ve never actually had one of them do any kind
of "liver cleanse".

ADA, Joslin

Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

Hello Mary,

Happy to oblige/provide, which ~arena~ would you prefer?

The traditional diabetic triangle of "health" is the same as for anybody
else. Eating habits, Exercise habits and of course the insulin, which is
what makes the diabetic triangle such a bizarre thing at times. The one
piece that wasn’t stated or articulated well in that three pronged approach,
was the MENTAL component of the disease.

I was "educated" at a very early age in the ADA/JDF guidelines and protocols
Consequently, they were the habits that I knew. As we all know, old habits
are difficult to change ; ) and particularly if they go back to nursery
school or earlier…

ADA, Joslin (was new group)

Hello Linda,

<I’ve never seen anyone yet who followed the ADA guidelines and really was
able to control or REVERSE their diabetes.>

Linda you’re killing me this morning <roflmao> (rolling on the floor
laughing my butt off)……..

Suffice to say you’ve now "met" one… bet there are many, many others too.
I followed those "evil guidelines" <SSI> (SERIOUS sarcasm intended re: the
evil") zealously since Nixon was in office…

The ADA books, now those I have a serious problem with at almost every turn.
[Waaaaaaaaaaaay to much rah-rah cheerleading & Mr. Rodgers sunshine for my
tastes… but somebody must be buying em] However the ADA guidelines &
