Sweet N Low
Sunday, June 20th, 2004I’ll probably shock all of you by what I say now: I prefer stevia, as the
healthiest of the artificial sweeteners, but if we MUST use them, and there
are times we really DO have to, then I use saccharin, which is best known as
Sweet N Low.
I’ve studied this for 30 years, and NEVER believed the "bad rap" it had. I
recently came upon the following educational material about it:
Saccharin, the sugar substitute that gained notoriety in the late 1970s as a
substance that caused cancer has been taken off the official list of likely
carcinogens.
The Department of Health and Human Sciences announced the change in May in
the "Report on Carcinogens (9th Edition). Dr. Kenneth Older, Director of
the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and National
