To Kady - STEVIA
STEVIA is a MODERN MIRACLE PRODUCT. We use it constantly, though some
people don’t care for the little aftertaste that can occur if you put it in
something REALLY HOT. Stevia is also a diabetic’s BEST FRIEND. Stevia leaf
has absolute sugar reduction power and also helps curb cravings. We LOVE
IT!

Great ! Sounds like my answer to Splenda. ok, one question… is there more
than one kind of Stevia? Like a white Stevia and then something different
from that?

Well…there are different processes for stevia. Some of it comes out
tasting better than others! So if your first kind isn’t perfect for you,
try, try again! Swanson Vitamins (you can find them on line) has one on
sale RIGHT NOW for as low a price as I’ve ever found, and we’ve had the
brand before and like it.

Has anybody discussed HIATAL HERNIA with you? Your symptoms sound CLASSIC.
But the tension CAN cause panic attacks…I’ve been prone to them for 30
years. I know how to deal with them with natural products.
I believe stevia to be one of the safest products on earth, so I’d try if I
were you. Or write me PRIVATELY and I can tell you more about what I’ve
learned about some of these things.

I wonder why Stevia causes me pain in my stomach like
reflux esophagitis. It has happened often even when I take
a liquid supplement sweetened with it. I’m the original oddball.
Sure wish I could tolerate it.

I agree, the symptoms are classic — but no, I don’t have hiatal hernia, or
any other esophagus/stomach/upper GI./lower GI problem, that can be seen with
a scope or diagnosed with upper/lower GIs, bloodwork or x-ray.

i have a hard time believing all that stuff, cause i had never seen it before,
until now.
i know that it does not raise my blood sugar, the way regular sugar does. so
poo poo on that one!
The thing is, too, that if it is in so many products why doesn’t companies take
them out. Things don’t quite make sense.

Dear Gayle,
I’ve been in the health field for forty years, and I can only say that the
drug companies and FDA are totally in cohoots. You’re DARN RIGHT we’d like
to see Aspartame/Equal/Nutrasweet stopped. It is NOT used in most of the
rest of the world, and in fact, is ILLEGAL in most civilized countries. In
Japan, for instance, where it is outlawed, as it should be, all "diet"
drinks are sweetened with STEVIA. Americans are in such a total blackout
about what the rest of this planet knows on these things!
I have personally worked with at least 10 people who had SEVERE
neuropathies, symptoms diagnosed as MS, and one diagnosed epileptic, who
STOPPED ALL NUTRASWEET on my advice and within six months ALL SYMPTOMS were
100% cleared up. Coincidence? I THINK NOT ! ! !
Companies use it because it’s cheap and THEY CAN. It’s that simple. THEY
DON’T in places where they are not allowed to. Remember: this is produced
by a DRUG COMPANY. It’s always hard to believe that people have not seen
these facts before, but I guess there’s a first time for everyone. Take it
and you will probably pay the price. The sad part is YOU WON’T KNOW WHAT
WHAT DID IT.
I know what I’m talking about here. I’ve worked against this stuff for too
long and have seen too many people’s lives and HEALTH change when they
STOPPED IT. I believe Splenda will probably enter this ring soon, though
it’s nowhere NEAR as toxic. To some, it WILL be, though. I use it in
exceedingly moderate amounts, because I am allergic to sorbitol. I’m
learning lots more about xylitol - seems to have EVERYTHING right, but still
very tough to get here.

Hi Gayle,
I ask a Dr. about it & showed him copies off the computer about
aspartame & He laughed & sat there drinking a Diet Dr. Pepper. He said sounded
like you said a matter of someones opionion.although,It could be true it is
hard to know what to believe anymore because one way or the other something
in our food now is going to get us.so I think we have to decide that one for
ourself….Deb

I will just give you my experience. My kids and I don’t use any sugar, but
do use equal. They have always drank diet drinks. They have no health
problems. The oldest one did see a dentist for 17 years and the youngest
didn’t see a dentist for 13 years.
They either one did not have any cavaties. I say to each his own.

But it’s not just about cavities…. that is only a very, very minor part of
the side effects of Equal. I agree to each his own, never would argue with
that. I’m only saying that I personally have been reading about Equal for 6
years, and it is a grim story. I trust scientists who have conducted much
research far more than I’d ever trust a doctor. The scientists have no
hidden agenda. Doctors DO have a hidden agenda: the drug industry, which
rewards them constantly with vacations and other kickbacks for specific
numbers of certain current drug of choice prescriptions written…. but
thankfully that’s being slowly exposed.

Dear Phyllis,
Takes 15-20 years to do its damage. At least you have seen the facts. It
IS your choice.

Thank you, Phyllis. I feel like I am being attacked by these so called
do-gooders on this list. I have not known of anyone with any reaction to Equal,
and I have worked in the health field for a long time. Plus, I haven’t read or
heard much about Equal being bad for you, so I still can’t pass fact.
There was a test that said that eating tofu would cause you to have Alzheimer’s.
Would you stop eating it, if it were a reqular part of your diet? Tell me, and
I’ll tell you something else about the test.

Would you like a VERY LONG list of websites so that you can read all about
it?? Good grief, it’s all over the internet.

Dear Stifled Wind *eek, that could be a problem*
Yes, anyone with half a brain knows not to believe everything they read
on the internet where Elvis wannabe children try to lay claim to Graceland’s
millions by the dozens every day, and anyone can be whoever they want to be
from their side of the computer. I just assumed that went without saying.
But the research on Equal (aspartame), although abundant on the internet, is
certainly not limited to the internet, not limited to individuals, and the
sheer volume of it is overwhelming - in the regular libraries, medical
libraries, law libraries, and your local book stores. And there ARE plenty
of doctors who are knowledgeable about it. If there were only a few studies
about it, that would be one thing.

In a restaurant I usually use sweet & low, I think it tastes sweeter. I am
sure none of it is really good for you, but what are the alternatives. I
used to carry stevia with me, but I can’t always be perfect in everything I
do. I am barely hanging on by a thread now with all my personal problems.
We need better choices. i also use alot of Splenda, which is now becoming
available. The problem for me with all of them is that to make the power
formula it adds one carb. the liquid doesn’t have carbs, but then you can’t
get that.
