Cravings

One of the most helpful books I’ve ever read on the subject is The Carbohydrate
Addicts Diet, which I know is considered a staple in the weight loss field.

Unquestionably, the junk foods, potato chips, cakes, cookies, pie, etc., are
poisoning us, yet we crave them. This book taught me how to recognize what it
calls "trigger" foods - those foods that TRIGGER UNCONTROLLABLE FOOD CRAVINGS.
ALL sugary stuff pretty much will do this, but other quite surprising things
can. So for years now I’ve noticed when I feel like eating myself out of house
and home, I’ve HAD SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I pinpoint that and try NOT to do it
again.

One of my most important triggers is Sucrolose (Splenda). I can take it in VERY
small amounts, but that’s about it.

Orange juice did…but of course, I had to give that up entirely as a diabetic.

And I have a beautiful orange tree right outside my back door. WAAAAAHHH! :-(

    I AGREE 110% with this theory!!! Cravings ARE a sign of deficiency, and our
    #1 deficiency, especially in North America, is MINERALS. I almost DIED 10
    years ago from severe atrial fibrillation. The docs told me I’d be on meds
    the rest of my life…I said no, not a chance. I am an herbal healer and
    SOMETHING IS MISSING. When I find it, it’ll correct this situation. They
    looked at me like I was crazy.

    Took 5 months before I learned it was TRACE MINERALS that I was missing,
    though I was getting more than enough calcium/magnesium/potassium, etc. The
    DAY I added trace minerals (and I have taken them EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE)
    the pain in my chest stopped. I took myself off of my drugs at the end of a
    week, then tossed them in the trash at the end of a month. I DID NOT ASK
    FOR PERMISSION. If the doctors had KNOWN this, they’d have told me. They
    DON’T have a clue on how to restore, rebuild, and renew the body. We need
    them, for sure, for trauma, emergencies, and diagnoses, but other than that

    all they do is cut, burn, or drug.

    Whenever I am even LATE taking my life-giving supplements, I start hovering
    around the refrigerator or cupboards!!! I’ve been able to lose 80 pounds in
    the process, too! Mary’s advice is absolutely on target and ALL of us
    should consider implementing her suggestions.

    I think cravings are a sign of mineral deficiency. When I take supplements
    and/or eat salads, etc. I can walk by the chocolate Easter candy, etc. in
    the store and not want any. I think sweets stimulate the thyroid and the
    thyroid needs minerals to work properly or something. You might try some
    experimenting. The other day I must have been tired or deficient, because I
    was picking up goodies in the grocery store and looking at them. I’d then
    think, this looks good, but it’s going to make me feel junky and I’d put it
    back. The craving didn’t last too long towards that particular item as I
    walked on and forgot about it. When I take supplements I get farther on my
    energy during the day. My brain seems to work better on herbs. I haven’t
    pinpointed what it is exactly as I’ve just been taking a few of what’s
    handy. I probably have 100+ bottles of supplements, and I need to order
    some more things that I want to try from vitaminshoppe.com. Mary J.

    Hi,
    I just had a hair analysis done, and it test for copper as well as many
    other minerals, plus give you results as to any electrolyte imbalances in
    your body, picks up on stuff like thyroid problems, and tests for any toxic
    levels such as mercury amalgaman (sp?) from silver dental fillings. The one
    I had done cost $105, but you can get a cheaper one done for about 40-50.
    Just go to Google search engine and type in "hair analysis kit" and you’ll
    get a listing of the companies that do the hair analysis. The one I used is
    called Unikey.
