To Linda R. from Linda Y.

Dear Linda,

Re your comments:

"Pharmaceutical Companies seem truly evil to me. As does the Insurance
Industry. I have distressed my family most of my life because I won’t buy
into insurance. It’s a spiritual thing for me - I’d rather put my money into
supplements, education, and practicing self-care than to throw it down the
bottomless pit of insurance mongers. I try to connect in my heart with
Higher Power for my insurance and am willing to simply live until I die,
gracefully, I hope. "

I run my own Forum which concentrates on diabetes, its complications, and
obesity. Seldom have I seen anything worded any more poetically or
beautifully than the above, and I would like your permission to reprint the

above portion of your letter on my forum, as well as into the letters I
write to these people. It struck me so powerfully it brought tears to my
eyes.

UNBELIEVABLE INFORMATION

Thanks for your response, CJ. I would be interested in having the
web address of the naturopath you mentioned. I’m not sure about the
synthetic vs. natural animal insulin debate. I know I don’t digest
bovine products well, so beef insulin might not be so great for
me…I do use an organic porcine-derived thyroid med from my
naturopath, supposedly good because it has both T3 and T4 in it(I
guess one is an inactive precursor of the other, and so can
be ‘activated’ as needed by your body) A couple decades ago you could
only get the pork and beef insulins. I remember when they managed to
splice the human insulin gene into a harmless variety of E. Coli so
as to crank out proper human insulin for pennies. After the research
and development was payed for it was supposed to become dirt cheap.
HA! In our dreams. Pharmaceutical Companies seem truly evil to me. As
does the Insurance Industry. I have distressed my family most of my
life because I won’t buy into insurance. It’s a spiritual thing for
me - I’d rather put my money into supplements, education, and
practicing self-care than to throw it down the bottomless pit of
insurance mongers. I try to connect in my heart with Higher Power
for my insurance and am willing to simply live until I die,
gracefully, I hope. Guess I’m ranting and raving here.
Anyway, I don’t know how they make Lantis. Novolog is supposed to
have one amino acid different from human insulin. Whether it’s made
by bacteria or synthesized some other way I don’t know. Maybe someone
else here does? I do know it costs twice as much as Humulin or NPH.
Argggh. Well, it sounds like you’re not doing too badly on just the
lantis. I didn’t realize insulin helped that much in type II
diabetes. -Linda R
