Cured?

Hi!
I’m a new member. Chris is my name. Newly diagnosed at a type 2. I
was very ignorant and thought one could quickly get better - like
with most illnesses.
I hit quite a depression when all the feedback I got was "you have
incurable disease"
I am managing well Glucophage, diet & exercise. So well in fact, that
I am feeling better than I have in ages!
Is it really impossible to have a remission or get cured? ? ?

I’ve heard of the water diet, but it sounds a little Quacky to me.
Are there any other cases of complete cure?

I hope someone can give me encouraging news.

    Dear Chris,

I was diagnosed with Type II over a year ago, though it’s clear I had it for
about 12 years before without knowing. I’m not much for going to doctors, as
    I don’t like them.

I look at "curing" diabetes this way: If you were to go out skateboarding
and doing wild things, though you knew nothing about the sport and were in
terrible condition physically, you’d probably break something REAL FAST. It
would heal eventually, but what would happen if you repeated that mistake?
    You’d get HURT AGAIN.

This is how I look at Type II diabetes. In my worldwide counseling work, I
just tell people that WE DID IT through wrong food choices over a LONG
period of time, perhaps not enough exercise, and a lot of other factors

entered into our developing the insulin resistance which is the true
hallmark of Type II, which is so different from Type I that I haven’t
figured out WHY they call them both "diabetes". So if we REVERSE those
things we did wrong, eventually we improve tremendously. I have attained
pretty much total mastery over my illness in every way without any meds
whatsoever, which includes having blood sugars in the 90-105 range daily,
through mild exercise, carb control, and the right supplements.

BUT - I NEVER FORGET - I will bring back all the ravages of this disease if
I go back to HURTING MYSELF again. Most people find this an easy to
    recognize comparison.

I counsel people on a daily basis because I have been successful with
bringing this under control FOR MYSELF, and those who follow my
recommendations also gain control, sometimes rather quickly. You asked for
encouragement: this is it! The info is out there…I made it my life’s work
to help get it out to others. I’m sure you will find the answers you seek,
and if I can help, I’ll be happy to.

<PRE>Hi Linda: I hope that your offer to provide information on managing
    diabetes
is available. I have type 2 for 2 years and manage somewhat well, fasting
sugar about 120-130 if I am diligent in exercise and food choices. I am a
lacto-vegitarian for 27 years, and only recently added more protein and less
carbs. I recently lost 7 pounds but I am not over weight. I am really
frustrated because @ 62 years and have always exercised, I can’t seem to get
a handle on this. I was so happy to see that you are successful. I appreciate
    any help. Thanks. Tim

    Hi Jewel

Thanks for your reply of 2 Feb. You answered many questions and painted quite a
    positive picture of my condition.
I seem to have come to acceptance phase. I’m averaging bs levels of 6,2 at the
moment and am losing weight fast.
I do however have bouts of extreme tiredness where I just have to lie down and
    nap.
Otherwise, I shall do as you say; sift through all lthe literature and do what’s
    best for me.

    Warm regards

    Chris

    Hi, Chris,
    Keep going!!!
    You are doing fine.

If you can keep your A1C to under 6.,
the chances are you will have little neuropathy.

Water, pure water, is imperative for a diabetic.
    Many, many glasses a day.

Read lots, listen to all different ways to go about
things, and make your own choices.

Cured??? really doesn’t matter. Just keep your
BS levels low and you minimize the body’s
reactions to the sugar in your system.

The doctors have told my husband that he is
cured of type 2. But my husband is a physiologist.
He says he always will have the illness so he continually
watches what he eats, exercises, and takes vitamins and
minerals from our local Apothecary. He watches his
relationships and activities to keep his stress level low.

There really is not one way to do this for all of us. Each
body system is different. You will have to experiment to find
out what is useful to you. So listen to everything with a
cautious mind. There are no miracles, no fast cures. Take your
time and sift through the information. You’ll be glad you did.

    Peace and love,
    Jewell
