ounce of prevention

Tuesday, March 30th, 2004

i’ve been hearing that vitamin e can help eliminate possible harmful
complications such as blindness, kidney failure, amputations, etc.
is there any truth to that? i know that nutrition is only one
component of managing diabetes (in addition to blood sugar and
exercise), but is "e" all it’s cracked up to be? if anyone can
comment i’d appreciate it.

thanks

Glyburide & low blood sugars

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

I have already been advised against this by a pharmacist and the
ADA. I wonder if any of you can shed some light on this.

My diabetes is caused by my goiter from an overactive thyroid. The
last time I had my HGA1c it was 7.8, the time before that it was
7.6.

My doctor is on vacation and he had his Nurse Practioner see me. I
told her that my thyroid had been over active and that it was
starting to get back into the normal range because I was feeling much
better. My TSH was 1.33. It had been down to 0.4, so it’s getting
back to norm slowly.

Now here’s the part about Glyburide. My perscription says to take
1/2 tablet 30 minutes before breakfast. The full dose is 2.75 of

Kidney Bean Extract and Grains?

Monday, March 22nd, 2004

Is kidney bean extract effective for non-diabetic hypoglycemia or
diabetes and what would be a good source for it?

I believe these two links allege that grains are not a healthy choice -
is it safe to eat small amounts of whole grain bread with non-diabetic
hypoglycemia or diabetes?

Thank you, Mike

blaming the victims aka Re: positive though somet

Monday, March 15th, 2004

"The people who complain the loudest about the health care
industry being our of control with outrageous costs for everything
they need, and who can’t afford the high cost of drugs, are the same
ones who never took a second thought about taking care of themselves
in the first place."

That’s just your guess as there is nothing to support your statement.

There’s a lot more going on then just making wrong choices. By your
reasoning we should just have people dying in the streets, or perhaps
euthenasia for those underserving of life?

I have adequate health care but I still recognize the need for a better
health care delivery system and one that is available for everyone who needs
it, not just for the deserving.
