Diet question

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

My mother has been recently diagnosed with diabetes. Of course she is
trying to handle it the best she can. We would like to know a couple
of things.
1. How much salt intake should she have?

2. How much fat (saturated or unsaturated) should she have?

3. How much sugars intake? Any?

I really dont know if you can answer these or not. I wasnt sure if
all these questions require an answer depending on how much insulin
she is on or maybe it depends on her weight. Please answer me back as
soon as you can. Thank you and God bless!

If Your Fasting Blood Sugar is Above 90 You Are At
Risk of Heart Disease
E-mail to a friend
People with a fasting blood sugar level of 100-125
mg/dl had an adjusted nearly 300% increase higher risk
of having coronary heart disease than people with a
level below 79 mg/dl. This information was compiled
from a cross-sectional study of nearly 2500 people.

A fasting blood sugar level of more than 125 mg/dl is
the current threshold for identifying patients with
diabetes. But the new finding suggests that patients
with high levels of blood sugar in the nondiabetic
range face a substantial risk of coronary heart
disease.

Fish Oils and Diabetes

Summaries of the latest research concerning fish oils
and diabetes

Fish oil supplementation is safe for diabetics
PARIS, FRANCE. People suffering from type II diabetes
often have high blood levels of triglycerides and are
therefore prone to coronary heart disease. Fish oils
are known to be effective in lowering triglyceride
levels, but concern has been expressed that they may
also increase low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels and
be deleterious to glucose control.

Can any of you tell me if there is something we can do for a diabetic dog?
My friend’s sister’s dog has just been diagnosed with diabetes and she is
beside herself, as her beloved cat died in its sleep just 2 weeks ago and
the vet wants to euthanize the dog immediately. ANY suggestions are

ayurvedic approach to diabetes

Wednesday, February 18th, 2004

OUR AYURVEDIC APPROACH:

Ayurvedic treatment differs from person to person. In
the beginning, medicine is given according to the
personal criteria. After monitoring the blood sugar
level in the stipulated time, maximum dosage of the
medicine is given. Medicine is continued until blood
sugar level comes to normal. It is the turning point.
From then onwards, gradually the dosage of the
medicine is reduced. Then either patient will be
maintained in minimal dosage or without the medicine!
This kind of approach gives hopes to diabetics where
there is possibility of stopping the medicine.
Moreover, extra medicines for constipation, drug
induced hyper acidity, general debility, sleeplessness
