Re: BP? Another question
I can’t answer your question, but have another one for everybody. When I
took my son to the endo we had a very interesting conversation.
My son-in-law - 26 yrs old, has type 2 and high blood pressure. His
blood pressure has been as high as 170 over 120.
He recently began taking an anti-depressent. This has brought his blood
pressure down to 128 over 70.
The endo says he should take blood pressure meds. He says that all
diabetics should take blood pressure meds even if their blood pressure
is normal, to avoid heart problems.
I really don’t like taking any meds. I have had diabetes type 2 for over
8 years and have never had high blood pressure. I also don’t think Dr.
Atkins would support this.
Does anyone have any opinions?

Hi,
I don’t feel like taking drugs as a pr3eventative is really warrented. If
we take this idea further, why not put all people on antibiotics all the
time because they just might get an infection? And while it is certainly
true that heart disease, high bp, etc, may be more common in diabetics, that
dosen’t mean that automatically all diabetics will have problems with it.
I don’t know the answer to the tight cuff question, but I do know that if
they use a cuff that is the wrong size, that can make the readings
artificially high. So the theory about a too tight cuff makes sense to me.
