Diet Drinks - Just my opinion
Diet Rite drinks are sweetened with Splenda.
I drink diet 7up and or Sprite. I mix 1/4 diet 7up with 3/4 water and it
puts enough carbonation that I don’t get the terrible heart burn like I
get with drinking plain water. I have 2 diet decaf cokes a day. This is
my treats for the day.
In nursing classes we learned that the clear diet drinks don’t have
carbonic acid like cokes. Carbonic acid makes it many times more
difficult for the kidneys to filter.
I think that we can’t rule out everything that my harm us and even if we
try they will find out something next week that causes something. So, I
take a moderate approach.
Also, hot and cold tea help substitute for diet drinks.

Hi,
Stevia is good as a sweetener, but people need to be aware of one thing. It
is very strong tasting and you will definately notice it. It does take some
getting used to.

I did not know aspartame was a neurotoxin. Would you let
me know the peer-reviewed research that suggests it to be?
Thanks,

But aren’t phenylalanine and aspartic acid essential amino
acids? Of course, if one has Phenylketonuria (PKU) I would
agree that aspartame is very harmful. I do not believe
that the mere fact it is heat labile would confer danger,
nor would it being a dimer—in my opinion. Again, do you
know of peer-reviewed resarch that suggests such?

—"….recommended additional long-term testing prior to
approval." is hardly proof that aspartame is toxic.
Likewise over the past 21 years, one would believe that the
research showing danger would have been done…..I would be
interested in those results as peer-reviewed, dbpc studies.
Likewise, although I find grave fault with anecdotes, the
usage of aspartame since 1980 has been such that one would
have expected to see the adverse results you allude to.
Sincerely,
Charles Morrow

Hi,
Thanks. I didn’t know that you could get the white stevia powder. I’ve
only used the dried leaves and the liquid.
And as to why the fda won’t let anything other then aspertame or other
neurotoxins get approved is probably no secret to any of us here on this
list!(smile)
