Enzymes & Poor Digestion

Hi,

I am new to this group. I think I am a remote candidate for
developing diabetes, though it doesn’t run in my family at all. Just
the fact that I was raised on a Kellogg’s breakfast and simply LOVED
eating candy all the time! I am a healthy weight for my height but my
problem now is, I think, poor digestion/bad assimilation of nutrients.

About 10 years ago I first noticed what seemed like a gall bladder
problem….pain in the area of the gall bladder after eating butter
and chocolate, etc. I took olive oil for a few days before going to
the doctor to get an x-ray. No stones showed and I felt well again
after taking the olive oil!

But since then it has gotten worse and worse. Not so much the gall

bladder but the symptoms seemed to shift. Now when I eat fried
things, fatty things or even a lot of sugar, I seem to develop toxins
in my body that make me have pain on my left back area and make me
really stiff so that I cannot move my head much without pain. (As if
I had a huge hamstring connecting my head and back). Sleeping also
becomes difficult. I found that when I revert my diet to fruits,
veggies and pasta, the pain and stiffness slowly diminish. One thing
interesting in this is that I CAN eat cheese without a problem
(except cheddar). I don’t know why. Research on the Net led me to
find that my digestion is really poor and that my food is not being
digested properly, causing larger food molecules to enter my system
and my body reacts to them like a bad/toxic substance causing
this "allergic" reaction, which could eventually be life-threatening.
It seems my pancreas is not creating the proper enzymes and my colon
is probably not doing so well either.

I found this past Feb that taking enzymes is practically the cure for
me! But the problem here is….there are always MULTI-enzyme pills
out there, and though they help me greatly, I stopped taking them
because there is SOME ingredient that causes me to be REALLY nausious
immediately. I have been therefore taking Futurebiotics’ Colon Green
capsules after eating because it doesn’t bother me and contains
Lipase, Protease and Amylase among a BUNCH of powdered herbs and
acidophilus. It seems to do me well for the time being.

What I am looking for is to be able to do a really good colon cleanse
that is very safe. I am afraid to pick one off the shelf without some
recommendations.

I am also looking forward to taking other enzymes. Despite the multi-
enzymes that caused me nausiousness, SOMETHING in those pills really
fixed me up FAST, and I regret not being able to take them or know
what it is that I really need in them!

Is there some way to be able to take isolated enzymes without taking
them all together? What type of doctor would I have to consult that
would best fit my needs right now? When eating a certain type of
food, it seems rather silly, anyway, to take all the enzymes in the
bookg following it!

Thanks for any help you can give!

P.S. Enzymes are a fascinating subject, and I think any candidate for
diabetes would do well to study this subject which gets into the fact
that the commercial diet is causing all these health
problems…microwaving, irradiation and processing ruin all the
enzymes we need in our foods, and the pancreas is overworked because
of it. Once the pancreas starts being adversely affected, the chain
reaction of health problems start. I know the pancreas directly
relates to diabetes and the glycemias.
