Enzymes & Poor Digestion

Sunday, August 31st, 2003

Hi,

I am new to this group. I think I am a remote candidate for
developing diabetes, though it doesn’t run in my family at all. Just
the fact that I was raised on a Kellogg’s breakfast and simply LOVED
eating candy all the time! I am a healthy weight for my height but my
problem now is, I think, poor digestion/bad assimilation of nutrients.

About 10 years ago I first noticed what seemed like a gall bladder
problem….pain in the area of the gall bladder after eating butter
and chocolate, etc. I took olive oil for a few days before going to
the doctor to get an x-ray. No stones showed and I felt well again
after taking the olive oil!

But since then it has gotten worse and worse. Not so much the gall

Thyroid and Diabetes

Sunday, August 31st, 2003

Hi there,

Count me as one of the lucky ones that happen to have
both diseases. I am type 1 since my pregnancy at 33,
thyroid diagnosed 6 mos after birth of my son.

They seem to be VERY strongly linked. My synthroid
dose seems to be changed every 3 months. If the
synthroid is off, then the BSL are eratic. If the
synthroid is at an OK level, BSL’s seem to be much
more stable.

Feels like a 4 year rollercoaster I’m on - anyone
else have this combination???

Thanks for the info on the walnuts. Do you know anything about pecans or

Thanks,

Lysine - Joy

Thanks for the lysine tip. I am going to get some. You are the third
person I know who got shingles in their 30’s. Now I read that 30% of the
people that get in are in their 30’s. Both of the others still after 5
years get the pain occassionally. I will pass on the lysine tip to them.

Thanks,

Your food plan looked excellent and so is your way of thinking. I have
wanted to cheat so bad the last couple of days, but everytime I almost
cheat I think about hard I have fought the last 4 months to lose weight
and get my blood sugar down, I always stop.

This is the first time in my life I have ever had any willpower. Maybe I
am just scarred to death, which is a good thing!

Thanks to all

I finally read all the sites all you kind people sent about the MSN,
Cassie cinnamon and other natural healing vitamins and minerals.

I now have my list and am going to try each one, one at a time, and will
let you know.

Thanks again.

<What about the glucowatch and islet transplants?>

What is glucowatch? When can everbody get these transplants?

Good points. Keep them coming and I will fire back at you. This
discussion helps us all to grow. You give me hope!

hypoglycemic reactions

Friday, August 8th, 2003

I have been wondering- for people who experience seizures or loss of
consciousness with hypoglycemia- what blood sugar level is low enough
to cause the severe reactions? I know that this must vary among
individuals, I just want to get a sense of what other people are
experiencing. thanks.

REply to Richard

Atkins and Eades said that there has been any scientific evidence that
too much protein damages the kidneys. I haven’t researched it, but that
it what they say.

And Richard, they are both members of the AMA - LOL

Sorry I had to make that joke.

REply to Michael

Dear Michael,

God, I hope so. My tryglicerides were cut in half, but the blood sugar
doesn’t seem to respond as quickly. I will keep you posted.
