Neuropathy?
Hi,
I’m 34 years old and a recent Type 1 (diagnosed in July). Control
of my bs has been tricky and I frequently find myself in the low 200’s
which I quickly correct with insulin. I hope to get on the insulin
pump this year and even my numbers out. My question is this. I badly
bruised my foot last September (I completely folded it in half by
missing a step on my stairs and couldn’t walk on it fully for about a
month or so). It took a long time to heal and occasionally "tingles".
Two nights ago I woke up and realized that my big toe is beginning
to become numb. This is obviously of great concern to me- I called my
doctor who said that it was way too early for neuropathy (I’ve read it
takes 10 years or so in poorly controlled situations) and to watch it
over the next month. Could anyone experienced please comment on this?
I’m quite upset about this and am thinking that maybe I’ve had
diabetes longer than just this past year. I had a child about 4 years
ago- they tested me for gestational diabetes in my 2nd trimester and I
was fine. Any thoughts? Thank you so much.

Hello Fiona,
I was diagnosed several years ago with type 2 and I had already lost some of
my neural transmitters by that time. Don’t worry about this situation because
it will increase stress and if you’re like me it will send your bs up quicker
than eating!! Just keep your bs as low as you can and check your feet every
day for infuries, I lost my left leg below the knee due to not feeling a
fractured bone in my ankle that infected!! Good luck

Hi Jewell,

Last January I started taking the Herb "Butcher’s
Broom" which is used extensively in Germany for leg
problems………although I used it for another
problem which is slowly working very well in curing my
bleeding eye……….However this herb has improved
the feelings in my legs and have been told by MD
several times that my legs are in great
shape……..*I have a bounce in my step, the oygen
