Subject: Persecution of Alernative Doctor in New York State-Update
I have received some more information on the case of Dr.Jennifer
Daniels,MD of Syracuse,NY. As you may recall Dr.Daniels was being
investigated and charged by the State on the basis of her treatment
of a patient with diabetes using only diet and exercise. She
successfully brought down his blood sugar level from 465(very high)
to 138 (acceptable).
The patient went off the diet on his own and had to go to the
emergency room of a local hospital when he wasn’t feeling well due to
high blood sugar of 565. He is well now. The Office of Professional
Medical Conduct is concerned about why the doctor did not use insulin
to control the blood sugar rather than diey and exercise which is
supported by many medical and scientific studies. New York State has
an Alternative Medical Practice Act, which should protect doctors
using non-conventional treatments that have medical and scientific
support.
Her original attorney was intimidated by an Office of Professional
Medical Conduct (OPMC) official into not contesting and dropping the
case, and charges shifted from "inappropriate medical practice" and
the instance of the case cited above to non-cooperation in allowing a
fishing expedition of her medical records.Dr.Daniels has obtained a
new attorney who will file an Article 78 in court contending that
OPMC is acting contrary to the laws governing medical pracice.
This motion will be heard in New York State Supreme Court on
Thursday, December 7,2000.
Dr. Daniels has asked that no rally be held at the court. She has
great faith in the power of prayer, and asks that you all pray for
her wherever you are on Sunday, December 3 and again on Thursday
December 7 at 9:30 am. I would like to add that the power of prayer,
called "Distant Healing" has been scientifically proven to be
effective in peer reviewed studies of AIDS patients. This
mtsterious "energy healing" may also help this exemplary healer.
It would also be helpful if you called Assemblyman Richard Gotrtfried
or Assemblyman Ed Sullivan if you live in New York City or State
Senator Kemp Hannon if you live on Long Island.
State Senator Kemp Hannon of Long Island, chairman of the Senate Health

Assemblyman Ed Sullivan, Chairman of the Higher Education Committee
which
has oversight of the Department of Education, which administers
licensing of
doctors has also expressed interest. His district is on the West side
of
Manhattan. A thin corridor along Riverside Drive from 59th Sreet to
96th
Strret and from 96th Street to 125 th Street
