Hi Nancy,
Thank you for sharing this.
<< I have seen people cured of type 2 diabetes, myself included, but every
person is different. In my case I was that controversial "borderline" and now
I’m not, thanks to an aggressive nutritional regimen that continues, happily,
to this day and has resulted in my path of formal study to become a
nutritionist.>>
Can you explain what you mean by an aggressive nutritional regimen? I’m
interested. My husband Seth has had type 2 diabetes for over a year now and
would like to know more about curing it.

I recently left a message here asking for your help with comments on your
use of the new In Charge meter, which tests both blood glucose and
fructosamine (a measure of glucose control over a 2-3 week period). Now I
want to thank all of you who responded.
While several of you provided details of your experience with this new
meter, many more were interested in how much it costs. I don’t think that
the Web site, at www.inchargenow.com, mentions the rebate and possible trade
in.
You can actually save a lot of money on your purchase of an In Charge meter.
The initial cost of the system is $79.95. Six GlucoProtein test strips go
for $24.95, 50 glucose test strips and 4 GlucoProtein test strips for
$36.95.
For a review article that I am preparing on the new In Charge meter, I’m
looking for people with diabetes who are using — or who have considered
using — this meter. The In Charge tests both fructosamine and blood
glucose.
Frutosamine (which the manufacturer calls GlucoProtein) is similar to the Hb
A1c, except that it is a measure of your blood glucose average over the past
2-3 weeks, while a Hb A1c test looks back 2-3 months. That makes it
potentially even more valuable than the Hb A1c, because it gives you a
chance to take corrective action sooner.
The company that makes the In Charge meter, LXN Corp. in San Diego, has a
great Web site describing this meter. The URL is www.inchargenow.com .
An exciting feature that the Web site promises is that "soon" you will be

I have type 2 diabetes and I also have Muscular Dystrophy. I walk with the
asssistance of a leg brace and a cane. Needless to say, I am not able to walk
for a long way or for a long time. Any suggestions on other types of exercise
that would keep my blood sugar levels down.
Also, I have terrible pain in the fat part of the bottom of my feet, and they
swell up when my blood sugars are high? The doctor cannot find out the problem.
I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas.
I have been a diabetic for 8 years, and it has been during the last year, that I
actually started to take care of myself. I take 500 mg. of Glouphage and I am on
two shots a day. I take 20 units on NPH in the morning, and 10 units before bed.
I would appreciate any help that anyone could offer me?
