Re: Wheatberry and Whole Grains
Yes. Wheatberry fills me up. I can’t eat rice or potatoes or pasta as a
Diabetic 2. So the whole grain is the substitute. I like it. I cook like
most whole grains, 1 cup grain to 2 cups liquid. I use fat free chicken
soup by Swanson. Sometimes I use bullion. I have a Black and Decker
Steamer–about $40. When done, I serve with the meal as the good-type
carbohydrate. I can also chop fruit into it, even your and my favorite
banana as a very nice dessert. It is said that it is very good for us–not
only the thiamin but the whole grain itself.
Check out the search engines for the Glycemic Index for more info. Also,
there are lots of very knowledgeable folks on this list and they are very
nice about answering questions.
You are most welcome, Debra.

Do you buy wheatberry at a regular grocery store or at a health food store?
I have never seen it.

I buy wheatberry at organic food markets like Fresh Fields and
My Organic Market.
