Computer Programs for our info????

Monday, March 31st, 2003

Hello,

Leoh asked the first question….

What are YOU using in terms of some kind of computer program(s) to keep your
eating habits, your exercise, your BG numbers in ONE place at one time?

Most of us have meters, some programs thereof (many) have programs that will
happily graph the BG records. Anyone have or use a program that does more?

We eat X carbs/calories, anyone have a program that shows the effect on
those BG numbers?
Anyone have some program that graphs more than just the blood tests well???

Suggestions/thoughts???

Hiya Woody - my name is JoAnne and my husband Macy has been diabetic 30
years now. It’s great you have a list for kids with diabetes. I will be sure
to send any that I run into that direction. I know of a pair of twin girls
that are diabetic and I think they are 9 now.

Dairy Education Board!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2003

Hey Everyone, I was surfing the net this evening and came across
the web page of The Dairy Education Board. They have a lot to say
about Diabetes and they believe it is caused by milk consumption.
Our bodies can’t handle the bovine protien in milk and dairy products.
This was very interesting to me and I thought I should share it with
you. They also sugest staying off milk and milk products for 6 months
and see if your diabetes improves. I do believe I will. Anyone
interested in looking up the site it’s notmilk.com Jennifer

American Diabetes Association Petition for a Cure

Saturday, March 22nd, 2003

Hi -

Based on the name of this group I would guess that everyone, their family and
friends (adults and children) have added their names the the American Diabetes
Association Petition for a Cure.

For those who haven’t added their name yet, the American Diabetes Association is
hoping to collect 1 million signatures to present to Congress at the Washington
Rally for a Cure in March 2000. I think they can exceed that number and like
thousands of others, I am gathering names to help with this drive.

The petition reads "The government spends $40 billion a year treating people
with diabetes but just 1 percent of that amount trying to cure it. If there were
a cure, that $40 billion could be used for tax cuts, education, or to save
Social Security. A cure would also save millions of innocent lives. I strongly

Pump stuff….

Wednesday, March 19th, 2003

Hello Cassandra,

>>The difference now is that if he ate breaded chicken and rice (say three
carbs) with a salad…..then afterward he could still have a piece of cake
without another shot…..all we do is tell his pump to give him more.>

Hummmngh…. I think this is a proceedural issue, we’re talking about.
If you’re having KFC chicken and rice, with a salad ; ) and you want him to
have cake too. Ok….

Myself, I never had those kinds of foods (the "cake" type foods), and am
much healthier now, as an adult because of that fact! I wonder, if, if, it’s
such a great thing for him, (any of us to EAT), and learn to like all these
kinds of foods…. is that necessarily a good thing? Yes he’s "included" now
but, the dentist will LOVE him, AND great what if he acquires a taste for

Nancy,

I can’t rule this out but there’s no way of knowing know for certain so this
could be a possibility.
Her own doctor does’nt think the allergic reaction was caused by the honey
so has advised care in her diet etc. although the doctors are not very
specific in what to eat and what not to eat as he himself survives on take
away pizzas.

Hi Jewell,

She don’t care she just loves her honey so we let her have just alittle
every day although she’s been off it since the alergic reaction.
